How to make a set last a full year

July 4, 2026 · Hair Garden

Beautiful hair is not rushed — and neither is keeping it beautiful. With a gentle routine, a Hair Garden set is made to last nine to twelve months of regular wear. Here is the whole ritual.

Brush from the ends, upward

Twice a day, start at the ends with a loop brush and work up in sections, holding the hair above where you brush. Never drag from the root down — that is where shedding starts.

Wash rarely, wash gently

Extensions do not receive oils from your scalp, so they simply do not need frequent washing. Every eight to ten wears is plenty. Use sulphate-free formulas, condition mid-length to ends only, and rinse cool.

Air-dry when you can

Squeeze — never wring — with a soft towel, then let the set air-dry flat. When you heat-style, keep tools under 200°C and always use a protectant.

Sleep on silk

A silk pillowcase or a loose braid overnight prevents the tangling that shortens a set's life more than anything else.

Store like an heirloom

Between wears, store sets flat or hung, away from direct sun. Treat them like the investment they are and they will return the favour, season after season.
